Plant description

The aim of this project is to replace the fossil-fuelled district heating boilers from the 1970s with a new K3 wood boiler with a thermal rating of 20 MW. The project started in 2022 based on existing rough studies. The first step was to determine the feasibility. Due to the very tight space conditions in the middle of a motorway junction and the listed building, an in-depth preliminary study in close cooperation with potential suppliers was necessary. Furthermore, the entire planning was performed with the help of a 3D model in order to recognise collisions at an early stage. In terms of process engineering, it was necessary to check how the new plant would be integrated into the existing district heating network during the various heating phases. The in-depth preliminary study, which already has the character of a preliminary project in parts, was completed at the end of 2023. The next step is to assess client funding based on the prepared cost calculation.
