History

Sustainable energy generation from waste: The mission of I.C.E. AG
I.C.E. AG recognised at an early stage that energy generation from waste and biomass is becoming increasingly important. It has therefore been offering intelligent incineration solutions for waste recycling plants since it was founded back in 1993. Because in times of global warming and energy shortage, the mindset in the waste industry has changed. The idea of pure waste disposal was abandoned. Instead, the efficient utilisation of the energy contained in the waste has become an issue. Waste contains energy. This can be utilised by recycling it for the generation of electricity and heat. Furthermore, metals and metal alloys can be recovered from the incineration residues. By ensuring the smooth operation and constant maintenance of waste recycling plants, I.C.E. AG contributes to the conservation of primary resources and prevents pollutants from entering the environment or landfill sites.

Making renewable energy sustainable
Our expertise is the result of decades of intensive work and research in the field of incineration technology. Each and every member of our highly motivated team has a wealth of experience and expertise that enables us to master even the most complex of challenges with ease. It is this unique combination of expertise and commitment that distinguishes us from others and offers our clients tailor-made solutions that seek their equal.
Versatile employer
Utilising the energy contained in waste is one of the ecological challenges of our time. This has also increased the demands on process technology, engineering and the planning and implementation of new plants as well as those requiring renovation. As an expert in incineration and plant modernisation, this is precisely where I.C.E. AG comes in. It supports plant operators and handles tasks in the fields of planning, modernisation, system supply, engineering, optimisation and maintenance. With these services and tailor-made systems, I.C.E. AG creates a sustainable foundation for greater profitability, reliability, the lowest possible pollutant emissions and a continuous increase in energy efficiency. New challenges are emerging in terms of decarbonisation, meaning the separation, recycling or sustainable disposal of carbon dioxide (CO2) from incineration processes. At the same time, the wide field of activity and international operations make the company based in the heart of Wil an attractive employer.

With responsibility for a sustainable world.

From then until now

Back then – starting small
In 1993, the company started off in a cellar office on Rebbergstrasse in Wil. At first, I.C.E. AG provided its services primarily for Von Roll (now Kanadevia INOVA), a leading manufacturer of waste recycling plants. This included construction management, assembly and commissioning procedures. Plant operators were still rare customers.

In between – new customer requirements
In 1997, the company moved to larger premises at its current location at Hubstrasse 64 in Wil. Operators of waste recycling plants increasingly asked for support after commissioning. This brought I.C.E. AG closer to the end customer. Soon, system operators receive direct support rather than through the plant manufacturer. Business grew. The range of products and services offered expanded. The entrepreneurs at I.C.E. AG acquired in-depth knowledge of process engineering and gained initial experience as general planners. Specialist engineers were also recruited.

Today – an internationally sought-after expert
Today, I.C.E. AG is active worldwide. In addition to many other waste recycling plants, it also operates the plant in Bermuda. I.C.E. AG has excellent knowledge of recycling processes and worldwide experience in plant engineering. The Wil-based company is a process expert and overall service provider in all areas of waste recycling. It has even gone so far as to develop its own patented key components for waste recycling plants. Today, 30 years after its foundation, I.C.E. AG employs a workforce of over 30, the majority of whom have higher technical qualifications.
